Hey ya’ll.  I discovered a new blogger a few weeks ago and after reading just 3 entries, I added her to my google reader. If you haven’t checked her out, please visit Kay C, Thoughts from the Quiet Storm.  Well, little I know that Kay C was doing a little reading of her own.  When I checked her out last week, she had received a “Versatile Blogger Award”.  Nice!!  She had to provide 7 random facts about herself and then pass the award on to some other worthy bloggers.   Low and behold (sounding like my grandma LuLu right there), she gave one to me.  Me???  MrsTDJ??  Really??  I was shocked ya’ll.  I enjoyed chatting it up over here, sharing the thoughts in my head and retelling the stories of all the random whackos that I run into, but I never thought anyone would pass me an award.  To quote another blogger, Krystal Grant, sometimes I just feel kinda random over here.

Anyways, thank you from the bottom of my big ole heart, Kay C!  I enjoy reading you too.

So, now, 7 random facts about ya girl.  Hmm, let’s see:

1) I had loved my name since I was old enough to say it.  Seems silly, no?  I know folks who hate their name or just think that it’s ok, but not me.  First, middle and last – LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT.   I used to spend hours just writing my name on sheets of paper, coloring it with crayons, painting it on my art easel, etc.  Ii even made up a million names of boys who’s first name went well with MY last name!  What a nut!  Anyway, my married last name?  Me no likey too much.  *lol*  Don’t worry; it’s not a military secret; I told MrTDJ not long after I met him.

2) Music makes me high! I enjoy music sooooooo much.  It’s in the background 24/7, no matter what else I’m doing.  Sitting at my desk right now, listening to the new Leela James CD, which is absolute FIYAH!!  I’ve got playlists in my ipod for all reasons and seasons, “Get It Girl” for when I workout, “Write Right Now” for when I’m writing, “Lift Me” for when I need a little gospel inspiration, and many others.

3) Related to #2, but deserving of its own mention – I LOVE DISCO! I was born in 1976 dammit and I missed the disco revolution.  I recently figured out that the perfect year to be born, in order to appreciate all the best music was 1953. Check it – you’d have been a child during the 50’s and 60’s, so Motown and such would be the soundtrack of your youth. You’d turn 18 in 1971 and disco was KING from then to the end of the 70’s. When the 80’s hit and hip hop was at its finest, you’d be 27 in 1980, so you’d be able to appreciate the next 10 years. By 1990, assuming that you attempted to keep one ear out for great music, you’d have been able to appreciate that 90’s sound like SWV, Guy, Black Girl, En Vogue, Silk, Blackstreet, etc. Obviously, I’ve spent WAAAAAAAAAY too long analyzing this, but think about it for a second and tell me I’m wrong.  *lol*  1953 would have been the ideal year!

4) I love seeing my parents now as best friends and grandparents to my son.  Although my childhood was fantastic, I kinda always knew that it was about ME and not about ALL of us.  Does that make sense?  It was no great surprise to me that they fell apart when I left home for college.  I was heartbroken, but I did actually understand.  Now divorced, they get along better than ever and I dig the maturity of their new relationship.

5) I haven’t taken a vacation since I spent a week in Cancun with the ladies back in 2006! Wow!  I’m planning a trip to the Albuquerque International Balloon Festival in 2011.  My mom went in 2008, loved it and brought back the most fantastic pictures.  So, she, I, little MrTDJ and host of others will be heading out west.  I’m super excited already!

6) Year round, Seattle, WA has the kind of weather that I think is just heavenly.  I would live there IF it wasn’t so far from the East Coast and my family.  I know that plenty of folks live far from their family, but I’m not ready for that.  My parents are within 40 minutes of my home now and that’s far enough.  I miss my family that’s in NY and GA constantly.  I’m kind of a big baby when it comes to things like that.

7) I don’t mind sharing my food or drink with family and friends, however, I do NOT allow anyone to put their utensil onto my plate or drink from my glass. Family style dining and/or ordering food to share when at a restaurant is fine because it’s not the concept of sharing that disturbs me, but another persons’ utensil or lips near my food creeps me out.  I’ve thrown away whole plates of food because I wasn’t quick enough to stop someone from breaking that rule.  And this rule extends to all, even my dear mother and MrTDJ.

So, there ya go.  The second part of the Versatile Blogger Award states that I should pass the award along to a few other bloggers that I think fit the bill.   The original challenge was 15, but I’m gonna buck the rules a little and only do 5.  I could probably do 100, but decided to keep it small. And of course, this should in no way be perceived as a slight by anyone that I don’t list.  *lol*  Ya’ll know folks get s.e.n.s.i.t.i.v.e!

****DRUMROLL PLEASE****
