Do ya’ll remember “The Little Engine That Could“?  As a little girl, that was one of my favorite books.  How could anyone NOT like the little blue engine that took on the task that all of the much bigger trains refused?  The mountain seemed insurmountable, but the little blue engine kept saying, “I think I can, I think I can” and eventually, it succeeded in pulling the stranded train over the mountain.

I have several friends who are at pivotal points in their respective careers.  I am overwhelmed with excitement and dare I say, pride, at their accomplishments.  Last week, I had the rare opportunity to have lunch with one of my very favorite people.  She shared some big news with me and I just couldn’t stop smiling.  Ya’ll, not to brag, but my friends are doing BIG things and I couldn’t be happier.  Their enthusiasm, dedication and creativity helps to fill my sails when I feel deflated.

I’ve been on the cusp of finishing my novel for over a year, but I haven’t quite been able to get there.  Somehow time and motivation never seem to be clicking at the same time.  Go figure.  But, after last weeks lunch, this little blue train has the gas that I need to get over the mountain.  I’ve been thinking that I could do it for a while, but now?  I know I can and I have a concrete plan to get there.  Thanks guys!!
